How to wear the yellow and coral trends for Spring and Summer:

TotalBeauty.com
Luxe vs. Less Skin Care

Find out what products to splurge on and when to save your hard-earned dollars

You don't have to spend half your paycheck on skincare products to stay wrinkle and pimple-free. That said, slathering household condiments on your face to avoid paying for the good stuff isn't necessary either. Dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban and P&G scientist Mary Begovic Johnson helped us compare products with similar ingredients that are very different in cost. Here's what we found.

See products

You possibly are seeing bright yellows and coral oranges in clothing, shoes and makeup. No worries! You too can wear this! The secret is one piece at a time.
Yellow skirt with black top works. Yellow shoes with jeans and a multi print shirt works! Yellow eye shadow through the crease with a soft shimmer pale beige, works!

The coral is going to look better the more tan you are. Try using the slow tanners such as Dove Energy Glow or for your face use Jergens Natural Glow foam.
Coral gloss with nude liner is perfect for day or with deep black kohl liner to go out in.

Remember, to add pieces that are trendy, buy the least expensive kind so in two months when it is out of style it doesn’t hurt to pass it to the Salvation Army. I like N.Y.C., Rimmel, even Wet-n-Wild brands for adding a current trend color at a budget respecting price.

For clothes, pick up some Taylor Swift with R.E.I. at Walmart or the Issac Mizrahi at Target and right now on sale at Payless are a great pair of bright yellow patent flats, which are so summer ready!
Finally, if all this yellow and coral scare you, why not put it on a pedicure where a toe or two peep out of your shoes?

Jergens Natural Glow foaming self tanner for face: yours and mine

TotalBeauty.com
10 Best Beauty Breakthroughs

These products have changed the way we color our hair, erase wrinkles, zap brown spots and more

10 Best Beauty Breakthroughs

Thousands of beauty products debut each year so it takes something special for a product to stand out from the crowd. These are the goods we think deserve a prime spot on your bathroom counter. So without further ado...

See breakthroughs

Moisturize into a silky glow. Jergens® natural glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer gradually creates natural-looking, streak-free color with a subtle skin darkening complex. The special foaming formula is soft and light so it glides on evenly and dries completely in just seconds so there's no sticky residue or waiting to get dressed.Designed specifically for Fair to Medium and Medium to Tan skin tones, you'll reach your optimum intensity of color after about one week of daily use. Continue to use it daily to maintain your healthy glow.

http://www.jergens.com/Our_Collection/Product_Detail.asp?ProductID=37

Okay, now all of that is from the website, and a link is available for you to click through to find out more about this product.
I like it! I have after four days of continued use, while also exfoliating madly with my Biore Skin Preservation scrub I have a nice subtle tan on my face that when I use a bronzer over it, I look naturally tan! The sun kind of tan!

Now my feet is another story. I never seem to get it right around the ankles. Oh well, that's what a pedicure is for.
Enjoy the daily beauty bit, and try the Jergens foaming Natural Glow self tanner. I'm fair skinned with freckles and it looks good on me.

One thing I did note about the product is that like other self tanners for the body, this product does not smell like "self tanner".

Enjoy! You can find it at mass retailers near you or get it off the web!

There is a new love! I traditionally like heavy creams and thick
anti-aging type products. The Biore Skin Preservation line is a part
anti-acne and part anti-aging product.

It has five parts to the line, and actually in my experience could
benefit from two more: a toner and a serum!
I like the price point on this product and combined with any coupons or
discount sales you find, this is a feel good effective line that could
help transform your skin and not your budget!

I've tried it for three days in a row which in my opinion is enough time
to see any changes: whether for the good or bad.
Another positive is that a wee bit goes a long way! I found that one pump
of each product was plenty!

Here's the details:
The Clean Things Up Nourishing Gel Cleanser ($7) — High-foaming with a
clean green scent. No burning around the eyes and it removes my mascara.

Even Smoother Microderm Exfoliator ($15) — A gentle, creamy exfoliator
with a fine grit that reminds me of Dermalogica products. Dual Fusion Moisturizer + SPF 30 ($15) — I love the high spf factor, that
is also dual spectrum, and for that much spf it doesn't smell like
sunscreen. In fact, it's light and creamy with easy slip to it.
Hard Day's Night Overnight Moisturizer ($15) — This has the texture of a
day moisturizer. It wasn't heavy enough for me, but then again, I prefer
night creams that have the consistency of blubber.
Put a serum into the line and it could make up for the difference for
clients like me.
See The Future Fortifying Eye Cream ($15) — I like a gel eye cream, and
this one did give a noticeable difference in puffiness. I think with
continued use I could see a difference in dark circles. Or maybe I should
just sleep more? This also has a unique pointy tube dispenser that
allows the product to slip back into the tube instead of hanging at the
pump dispenser making a hard plug. Nice touch.

In short, I liked the line, I found it effective, it's relatively
affordable and easy to get at any mass retailer or drugstore.
Visit http://www.biore.com/ for more information and skin analysis.

**Now** for the giveaways: you can get your hands on your own free set of
Biore Skin Preservation by writing in an email with contact info and
answers to these questions:1. What level of spf is in the lotion?2. What products could be added to the line?3. Does the eye cream reduce puffiness?
Between Tuesday March 24th and March 25th at midnight you can enter to
win Biore Skin Preservation! So get your emails in now!I'll draw a random winner!

A rare Sunday post from me…since there is so much news to review and report!
For me personally, Sunday is the Lord’s day of rest and the same goes for me and my family.
First I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for your amazing, generous and impromptu support at the Bogey’s fashion show featuring Briana Linea with HMU being provided by Ohana (an Aveda concept salon), videographer services by Daniel Baker ( tee hee…no relation), Tom on the mix and still photography from Chinh Pham.
It was a late night for me, and worth it. The dynamic of working with a band ( Straight from Scratch featuring Bryan on vox, Ladd on bass and Andrew on drums) and hearing them play a song, with the models walking, then me announcing the details, and now another song, and more models, and more announcing, was just fun! Special thanks to Benjamin Moline Entertainment and Brittney for the production coordination. As soon as I get photos from this…you’ll be the first to see!
Second, again, my deepest thanks and appreciation to the friends who helped make today possible! Tempe Marketplace sponsored the GSN: Game Show Network on air host search today. Fred Roggin and Alfonso Ribiera were on site as well as COX communications to support the channel 145 programming.
There were 5 of us, which to me seemed like a low turnout, but then again, maybe it’s not? It was very hot, and very windy; so windy that the props kept blowing over. I had seven minutes on stage to ask 3 contestants a series of questions in the game format of “That’s a Fact Jack”. It went well in my opinion but I did not get selected to move onto the next round. Amy says I was robbed. Well, maybe. Though I figure that what is mine is mine and I’ll get what is due me.
Honestly, I’m not much of a game show watcher or even game host? Okay, maybe video games! Around here, we watch a lot of Noggin. Don’t know Noggin? You must not have a pre-schooler because that is exactly what it is: television for preschoolers.
Oh? Pictures you say? Nope. Not one. I need a new camera. I’m thinking of passing the proverbial plate on the web to raise donations to buy a new camera or video camera ( I saw something for a hundred bucks at Best Buy ) so I can take my own photos while I’m out and about. I do have a very old camera that works occasionally, but since it is not reliable I don’t usually bring it.
Finally, I thank you one more time. Your support means the world to me. Now, word is that Amy is interested in joining me on the Ducati shoot meaning: she’s Sophia and I’m Gina. That’s going to be interesting!
I’ll post pics as I get ‘em!

Links for this busy weekend and coming weeks!

LOOK here!! The links for what you need!

That's me and Amy ( Spokesmodel extraordinaire) at my Vette shoot

Okay, first things first. There is alot, I mean alot, going on in the next few weeks. These are events that if you, in the words of Prince “need to be seen” are the places to be seen. (*There’s a story here…)
First: Saturday night at Bogey’s for the Briana Linea catwalk show. I’m designing makeup in the new Spring 2009 trend, so expect to see alot of yellow. AND! She is giving away, on the spot, a free BL dress!! So get there early and enter your name! The link to Bogey’s is below.
http://www.bogeysgrilltempe.com/events.html
Next, on Sunday. You know I have the gift of gab. Really, I talk alot and, well, call it a God given talent, I talk well. I need your help! I need your support! I need you to make a sign and come out on Sunday to the Game Show Network search for a host contest. Come cheer me on and be the rah rah rah! I need to see you and hear you! The event starts at 11, and if I am selected to move onto the next phase of the game, I’ll do a 7 minute segment of “game show hosting” at noon. Then if I pass that round, I’ll do the 2:00 pm segment too! Until!! Glory! I can be promoted all the way to the 3 pm slot where they select one winner to compete in LA .
Now, I’ve watched enough Price is Right in my life to know what to do. If you could please come out with your video camera and get some tape that could go up on YouTube, that would be sensational in more ways than one.
Please ObiWanKenobi, your my only hope! See you Sunday afternoon at Dave and Busters at the Tempe marketplace off the 101 and 202.
http://tour.gsn.com/
Finally, I love raising money. I love charity and I love helping others. Especially those that can’t help themselves. I’m the emcee for the ASU Cancer society benefit featuring the Glamour Walkers. Below is a link for some more info, but mainly, please donate your ten bucks and come on over for the party. Do what you can, while you can. It’s sage wisdom from John Wesley to “make all you can, give all you can and save all you can”. That was later reverberated by Yogi Beara. Now, I say it too!
Visit the link and see if it’s for you. P.S. There is a wee, wee chance that me and my band will play out a small set …wee chance though…
http://main.acsevents.org/goto/glamourwalkers
Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to meeting you, make it a point to come introduce yourself. I don’t bite! Just nibble!

Happy Friday!
I love a good brand that doesn't cost alot. If you haven't tried Lumene yet, it's worth it. Check out today's beauty bubble for more on which products are worth it and which aren't.

In the meantime, I am dried out from the day at the Golfland / Sunsplash park here in Arizona and my experience with the Biore Skin preservation line has been amazing. Now, I am waiting on some feedback from 2 others who tested this new line, though I can honestly say my experience was good.

I tried the
1. "Clean Things Up nourishing gel cleanser "and it left my skin feeling clean. Not tight and dried out, but like the makeup was removed along with chlorine, sunscreen and a layer of whatever that brown cloud is that's hanging in the Phoenix sky. It had a light scent, smooth texture and gave some foam but still rinsed well.

2. "Even Smoother" microderm exfoliator which includes Botanmide technology. Now, I love a smooth grain exfoliator and this is very comparable to Dermalogica's corn based soft grit exfoliator at a lower price point. It instructs you when using it to do a light finger manipulation to stimulate and help remove dull surface skin. I've washed once with it, and will do another wash tomorrow. I need to space it out due to my intense sun time!

3. "Dual Fusion moisturizer with spf 30" was the accompanying moisturizer. It has both uva/uvb protection which is key in Arizona! it doesn't smell like sunscreen, but has a 30, plus it is very lightweight and absorbed rapidly. My liquid foundation went over smoothly and didn't break up on top of the spf based moisturizer. So, it's good! Try it!

For more details and a skin analysis, visit www.biore.com plus you can find local retail outlets for you to get your hands on your own new summer skin care line. It's a pefect time to transition into a spf based/lighter skin care with the coming summer heat.

p.s. I know, some of you are still in the 6 weeks of winter that Punxatawnee Phil was talking about, but around Phoenix, we are turning the air conditioning units on!

Plus!!! Mucho kudos and thank you to everyone who wrote in for the Maybellin Lash Stiletto mascara giveaway.
Next up: Biore Skin Preservation giveaway and information. It's for skin that's in between having acne breakouts, needing some anti-aging help but not quite ready for full intensive anti-aging treatment.
Stay tuned for that tomorrow. In the meantime: while celebrating your Spring Break, remember to keep slathered in sunscreen. A one ounce (shot glass full) application that is reapplied after sweating ,swimming or being on the skin for over four hours is recommended for maximum protection.
I love the Neutrogena cooling spray spf because it's so hot here and the cool mist helps. Plus, with an active toddler I need a way to hose him as he runs by.
