Hello New York City Marathoners! I love running and as I am training for my first Ironman
I am looking for products to help me perform my best!
This lovely gentleman from Ethiopia in the photo is Haile Gebrselassie who has won his last 9 competitions and though he is new to the challenging course in the New York City Marathon he is ready to break his record and is setting his mind to win.

Haile Gebrselassie is 37 years old and young of heart and mind though critics in the sport of running have said that he is too old to win.

I am cheering for him and hope he wins for himself and his country. Here is an excerpt from an interview on http://www.letsrun.com where you can also view a video of the interview with Haile Gebrselassie and Paul Tergat a fellow Ethiopian and competition winning marathonner.
"Gebrselassie is a firm believer in the power of the mind and has minimized talk of his age (37) leading up to New York. When a reporter asked about his age, Geb flashed his smile and said, "You think I'm old?" He then added, "Well, one thing I want to tell you, even if I cannot break the record, I have to tell to myself I have to break it. This is what sport is. I mean, of course my plan is to [bring] down my time. I will do it. Why not? The more you age, the more you're getting stronger. I still feel like age of 20." (quotes above from this NYRR release)

Gebrselassie has done everything in the sport except win a marathon with stiff competition and Tergat feels all Geb needs in his career is a win before "millions" in New York. Tergat said, He has achieved everything - and what is missing is New York."

Now I'm curious as to what Haile's pre-run meal is? Does he carb up like the rest of us?

I will be watching the race to see if he uses any goo packs-that's what I call them though they may also be referred to as energy supplements that are in a semi-liquid state that you can suck down while running.

Most importantly to runners is foot care! Haile Gebrselassie, do you use a foot creme or muscle rub? I recently sampled the moisturizing lotions from Amlactin. They contain 12% lactic acid alpha-hydroxy therapy to help keep skin hydrated, smooth and healthy. So it makes me wonder
if Haile uses any specific product to keep his feet healthy and ready
to run. Being from Ethiopia, I think he would use a shea butter product, but you never know, he just may use AmLactin foot cream therapy!

Summer is over but this would be a great product to have in the cabinet from when open toed sandal season comes around again so you can keep rough heels at bay.

As for the winter season, I know that playing in the snow and snowboarding mixed with the central heating can really dry out my skin. Good thing I've found something to help keep it soft and free from itchiness! Enjoy and remember to watch the New York city marathon this Sunday Novebmer 7,2010.
