Hello friends! Today we have a guest blogger and interview with Dr. Fulop Goodling! I know you are going to love it because you most likely need it like I do! I'll be back in just a few short days and will be returning from the set with tales to tell! Enjoy the writings and musings of Andrea Samacicia who introduced me to Dr. Fulop Goodling!

*** Although most people believe the only way to avoid the signs of aging is with topical treatments or plastic surgery, one of the best ways to keep the face youthful and wrinkle-free is with exercises that strengthen and relax those muscles. Dr. Jacqueline Fulop Goodling is a New York City based orthodontist whose patients often unknowingly benefit from “working” their facial muscles throughout the course of their treatment, and as a result see anti-aging effects.

Below are a few examples of Dr. Fulop Goodling’s favorite exercises, and she would be happy to answer any questions you have about the many benefits of keeping facial muscles active and in shape:

1. Wag the tongue
Open your mouth as wide as you comfortably can, and release your tongue. Hold this pose for 60 seconds.
•Benefit: This exercise works the muscles on either side of the mouth as well as those in the neck and chin. Wave goodbye to saggy skin beneath the chin and jowls.

2. Hello, Dolly
Back in the heyday of jazz, most people could easily identify the sounds of their favorite horns and musicians like Louis Armstrong and John Coltrane were fan favorites. Today Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber have claimed the spotlight but the memory of jazz’s golden days remains strong when it comes to working those facial muscles: mimic the inflated cheeks of a trumpet player to engage a series of face muscles.
•Benefit: By imagining yourself a trumpet player, you are stretching the group of muscles that extend from your cheekbones all the way down to your neck.

3. Queen of the Jungle
Stress can affect more than just your mood: every scowl, frown, and pout leaves a permanent mark on your mug. Unfortunately it’s impossible to extract stress completely from our lives but thanks for this exercise, the signs of aging that result from these expressions is one less thing you have to stress out about. Reassert your place as the master of your own destiny (or at the very least, the owner of a relaxed looking visage) by inhaling through your nose, making fists and squeezing every muscle on your face possible.
•Benefit: This “pose” is an excellent way to improve circulation in the face, as well as to release tension that settles in around the jaw, the eyes, and anywhere else.

As an orthodontist, Dr. Fulop Goodling was trained in the musculature and nerve structure of the face and is qualified to explain why “working” the facial muscles is so important and how doing so can play a meaningful role in preventing, as well as reversing, some of the most dreaded signs of aging. In addition, Dr. Fulop Goodling is qualified to administer facial injectibles and fillers - enabling her to truly give her patients the radiant smiles they always wanted.
