Hello Gorgeous! I have sampled and enjoyed many John Frieda products-from hair styling, to hair care, hair color and this unique piece of equipment called "definition & curl wavy CURLS" conical designed curling iron. This curling iron is available at Walmarts everywhere and retails for about $39.99.

I could use a bit of help in learning how to style my hair with it and not burn my fingers. If you have any help here-shout it! Remember: you are beautiful! Thank you for visiting the blog and check back for promotions and beauty giveaways!

It's easy to be a bit agitated with conical wands when you don't know how to use them properly. I definitely had the same reaction as you did about 3 years ago when I first discovered curling irons such as those. However, once you understand how to properly use the tools, they deliver the most BEAUTIFUL curls! Much better than curling irons with clamps, if you ask me.

The key to using them is to:

A. Curl the hair AWAY from your face (you should hold the wand upside down along your head, and wrap small pieces of hair over then under, going in an outward fashion...unless you like the look of curls going inward, completely your preference).

B. Try to leave space between the hair when curling it, don't just overlap the hair on top of each other. Work DOWN the wand (if you use a head styling product such as a hairspray, serum or hair lotion it should help...I use the frizz ease straight fixation smoothing creme...helps it stick a bit-- it won't burn though, promise!)

C. Leave some room at the end of your hair as so there is about an inch that is NOT touching the curling wand. You want to do this as to not burn the ends of your fingers (since you are holding each strand) but then also, it doesn't burn the ends of your hair. This is truly why I love these conical wands, they actually are less damaging to the tips of your hair.

If you are concerned with burning your fingers because one hand is holding the strand (while the other holds the wand) then there are tons of heat protective gloves on the market that I know tons of beauty guru's use. Check out your local ulta/sally's beauty supply. Also tons of options online.

This is a great video showing you how to use it-- really awesome beauty guru who is a hair professional and has her own line of extensions. Love her videos!!
