What happened

Hello Gorgeous.
Holy smokes.
The new year.
Whoa.
This is the first time in the nine years that I have been writing Makeup University that I have EVER missed a post.
I'm not quite sure what happened but here's a start. The New Year's Eve travel ended with me being sicker than sick. In fact, I just may have invented a new sick with the level of snot that my body made.

Then it was back to school for Mancub. Who encountered the most vile of bully. This bully came back from Fall semester suspension with a fresh can of kid'hole to inflict on the students in the Spring semester.  Not good.

Oh, and I had to travel for a gig. Not just any gig. But a 9 day beast of a gig. I'm glad to be on it, but it's a grind. It's a 14 hours a day for 9 days kind of thing that is part joy and part horror.

Where I was staying on location had very slow internet that when I logged on made every virus bell ding and dong on my laptop.

So in the middle of being sick, Mancub having to fight for his life at school and the gig of all gigs with slow infected online access-I just didn't get my posts written.

*sigh* I'm sorry. I feel like I have let you down. That was not my intention. I just got caught up in life. Like a tidal wave of bad funk life and didn't meet my obligation.

I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
Going forward with good intentions for this amazing new year!

Back Blogging: Kim Clement for encouragement

 Hi ya Gorgeous,
I'm really enjoying the back blogging experience. I expect to not ever have another gap like that in my blogging.
In fact, I'm thinking I'm going to write the blog through the end of year ten and then hang it up. But we shall see.

Now today, what I want to share is the beautiful concert pianist turned encourager in the Word of God, Kim Clement.

Below is a word from him and a link to his website where you can tune in to his webcasts and playing. You can also visit his events live in Camarillo. I plan to go out next month for the Den.

Enjoy!

A Moment with Me in My Garden

From time to time, God separates me to pray and to listen. Now in the middle of January, I am in my garden and so much is being revealed to me. I had a dream last night of a huge house and property, and for a while I was lost in this house and had to ask for directions to the main living area. The dream contained a promise regarding property and freedom. I will share this today from my Garden on our Prophetic Workshop.
The other thing that I heard, and it was clear to me, which I will also share today, is about the death of certain leaders. I heard these words, “There has to be the death of certain leaders before I can release on the earth a portion of my Glory and Presence stored up for this time.” Today I will begin sharing this but will complete this revelation on Saturday. So it’s an interesting week and you don’t want to miss today’s special time with me as I minister to you from my sacred garden.
KIM

Lance Wallnau: As One!

Oh sweet Gorgoues!
The back blogging continues and I'm loving what I am sharing. I sure hope it's a blessing to you too!
So one of my favorite teachers is Lance Wallnau. There is something fresh and encouraging in his teachings and it's so relevant to the everyday work world.

I'm not a big facebooker, but-his best updates are on the facebook. So log in and look him up and enjoy the  encouragement. Below I have posted something that is truth for all of us!

"Forgiveness on your end does not mean God will not deal with things on His end. If anything, forgiveness on your end releases the thing into God's hands. I have often felt that unresolved forgiveness issues in me have delayed God from doing what He wanted to do to help sort out the situation or adjust the other person!"

Here's a worthy thought from Rick Renner:
"IF SOMEONE DELIBERATELY... sows bad seeds in our “garden” in an effort to hurt or destroy us, God will deal with them. But if we know bad seed is sown in our hearts and we just ignore it, allowing it to take root and grow unchecked, God will deal with us. We can’t answer for the actions of other people, but we will answer for our inward responses to what others have done to us."

 https://www.facebook.com/LanceWallnau
And as the Lance crowd would say at the end of a meeting or visit,
"As one!"

Daily Word vs Daily Horoscope and Doug Addison

Dear Gorgeous,
Whoa-this back blogging stuff is fun! My type A personality can not leave a gap in the timeline. The beauty product review stories I had not had a chance to write and post are going up this week. So that leaves me with an uncomfortable silence in my blog timeline.

It's pretty refreshing to take this time and write about the sideways thoughts and things that are part of my daily life.

Like, the daily word. Or, the daily bread.

Yes, word.

Not horoscope. There's a difference. It's a wee and subtle difference that can be profound.

Be More Book Tour with Sandi Krakowski in Kansas City - link inside

Back blogging continues!
And actually Gorgeous, I am enjoying it.

Funny-these posts give me a chance to share the encouragement that I received from Sandi Krakowsi of A Real Change International-and the posts that I would have put up would have been a simple focus on beauty.

Well friend, the year 2015 ahead, is going to be a whirlwind and it's important for each of us to stay the course, keep focused and no matter what swirls around us-remember who we are in Christ, in friendship and in family.

Look at this quote from the book Be More:

This is wisdom. You can't have negative influence hanging around stinkin' up the place when you are being promoted to something greater.

I know it hurts. Pruning always hurts. But the results are glorious.
As you are going through a painful change, draw nearer to God for the love and support you need to get through the pruning phase so you can quickly move into the abundant growth and heavy fruit phase!

I'm right there with ya!

Remember-January 21st, in Kansas City and by webstream, Sandi Krakowski is wrapping up the Be More book tour.
I'll be on the webcast! Will you?

Back blogging and #BEMore

Hi ya Gorgeous,
If you saw the January 19th post, then you know, why this is a 'back' blog and not a live blog.

In short, life happened fast and furious and for the first time in nine years I was not able to keep up with the daily posts.

But to be true to the nature of my blog being a daily blog, I'm going back to 'back' blog the stories that were happening at the time of my not being able to post.

I had been busy at the Barrett Jackson car auction in Scottsdale. Enough said.
What helped me every day, was reading Sandi Krakowski's book, #BeMore on my lunch break.

I find her write so simple and encouraging. Powerful. Love that she keeps it short and to the point!

Now, at first glance, she's gorgeous and that smile is infectious with joy. But look deeper. Read deeper in the book.
There is so much encouragement and many, many levels of wisdom in her writing.  I love it. It's like manna. From one encouraging woman to another-I love what she has to say.

So, get yourself a copy of the Be More book, and quickly turn to page 11, Secret #10
"Don't let them get you down".

Wow.

I say that all that time. It was refreshing to read it and encourage myself with it.
See, sometimes when you work with the public, alot. It makes you not like the public, a little.

So I saw that I just checked in to a deeper level of grace for the gig and held fast to the word to not let them get me down.

Hurt people hurt others to alleviate the hurt. Got it.

So going forward with good intentions ,and remember, "don't let them get you down"!

TGIF and the 2015 new year's resolutions in full effect: Zombies, run!

Hello Gorgeous and happy TGIF!

I am keeping on top of my new year's resolution to complete two fitness events this year: a simple marathon and triathlon. Three years ago, I tore my calf muscle training for the Ironman and I just have never got my mojo back.

I still love swim/bike/running. Well, specifically running, but I have not focused on training in the past three years. Well, there is no time like the present.

I have a spring triathlon on the calendar and a fall marathon. You never know, I just may add another event on to the roster, but for now I'm beginning my training with a new app on my phone called "Zombies, run!" and a Fitbit.

Together, I plan to use these two to fitness items to help me post great times at my events. Next up, some new training gear. I could use some new sneakers and running skirts!

How about you? How are your 2015 New Year's Resolutions going?

My BB & CC Cushion Creme Graveyard

Hello Gorgeous!
I love advancements in technology and especially beauty technology. Enter the BB and CC Cushion Creme craze.

I must admit, I love the finish of the applied product and they all have a very high spf. Plus the compact doesn't spill and it's easy to carry in my purse for touch ups.

But, there is just one thing. I have tried all of these, loved all of these but just can't commit to the lengthy application process.

If you know of a short cut on how to apply the BB or CC Cushion creme foundation quickly, please by all means, holler out!
In my experience, the best look comes from using two fingers on the sponge pad, and then dabbing/dotting the product on to the face and blending a bit. Now, move to the next wee inch of face and repeat the process.

Time consuming. Sure, the finished product is amazing...but the time!

I've tried using a foundation brush to make the process go a little faster and to no avail.

So before I give up on the BB and CC Cushion craze, let me know if there is a faster way to apply!

“How often should I wash my hair?" with Dr. Nussbaum

 Hello Gorgeous!
Oh the happy new year joy continues! Today I have a guest post from Dr. Nussbaum on the all important question "How often should I wash my hair?".

NYC-dermatologist, Dr. Marnie Nussbaum and celebrity hair stylist, Naté Bova to save you (and your hair) a headache. Here is their easy-breezy guide to help you gauge the right routine for your locks:

  • Co-Washing. “Co-washing is extremely beneficial to those with dry, dehydrated or damaged hair, otherwise it will simply weigh down those the fine-haired. Since unshampooed hair retains more of its natural oils than shampooed hair, the conditioner’s moisturizing agents will now leave strands even smoother and silkier than usual,” says Bova.
  • Non-Foaming Shampoo and ‘No-Poo’. “The biggest problem with ‘no poo’ is many experience extremely oily and greasy looking strands in the beginning, because your scalp keeps producing natural oils at the same rate it did when you used a basic shampoo that stripped your hair. You can still get healthy hair results by opting for a shampoo that is made with natural or organic ingredients and one that doesn't contain sulfates, paraben or harsh chemicals like Aviva’s Hydracreme Shampoo. Formulated with an assortment of botanical extracts, the shampoo works to eliminate buildup without stripping your hair of the moisture it needs, leaving your locks nourished and your scalp soothed,” says Dr. Nussbaum.
  • Cleansing Conditioners. Cleansing conditioners work well with thicker, wiry hair because they leave more humectants throughout the hair. It is also a frizz controller because the humectants in most of these products can give a 'weight' to the hair strands keeping unruly hair under control.  Dry or dyed hair can also benefit from these products, because they leave your hair feeling conditioned. Those with finer hair can also use these products, but should alternate regularly with a regular shampoo” says Bova.
  • Scalp Washing. “Incorporating a soap and alkali-free scalp shampoo into your weekly regimen can help to stabilize you hairs structure, as well as treat sensitive and delicate scalp conditions while eliminating dandruff. I often recommend Sebamed Scalp Activating Shampoo to patients as it’s a pH balanced wash that naturally supports scalp circulation – which is essential for hair growth and thicker-looking hair” says Dr. Nussbaum
As far as to how often you should be washing your hair? Dr. Nussbaum says, “All of these routines allow your hair to retain its natural oils, which will prevent dryness of the scalp and strands. Depending on the texture and condition of your hair you shouldn’t wash your hair on a daily basis. The drier your hair, the less you should wash but I do recommend using a regular shampoo once or twice a week to cleanse the scalp and alleviate product buildup left behind from hairsprays, mousse or gels.”

2015: the new year and resolutions

Hello Gorgeous!
I love making new year resolutions!
I keep the majority of them in some form or another! I think a list of resolutions is a great way to help shape your goals!

What has closed out for the year 2014-no drinking pop and going the 2nd mile for others.
I went about a week without Coke Zero! Though finished the second mile campaign with a beach fire with friends.

Now-let's talk about 2015 new year resolutions and goals!

1. Complete 2 fitness events: Tempe Triathlon and Las Vegas Rock n Roll marathon. I love training and this year I'm going to play with this app. Do you use it?

https://www.zombiesrungame.com/

2. Partner on 2 women's empowerment events: part beauty and part brains! I'm interviewing beauty brand sponsors now-so excited!

3. Travel: The Arizona Memorial in Hawaii, one international trip with my Mancub, Monterey Bay aquarium, Biosphere tour for Mancub and back to Catalina! I want to do more than 2 fishing trips this year!

I've got more, but this is enough to get started with now!
What about you? Do you make resolutions?

And just for fun and cuteness-here's Abednego. She's a happy cat!

Happy New Year! Start the year off right with Equitance skincare

Well Gorgeous,
It's offical. It's a new year. 2015.
Happy New Year to you!

Did you make any resolutions?

Did you break any yet?

Going forward, I think it's a good practice to start the new year off with the best intention of taking the best possible care of your health.  That includes skin.

Consider starting the year off right with a skin care system that includes a supplement! Something like Equitance.
